Original idea began with Sam Morse & Marion Hollins in 1924, option on the land purchased 1925, course map developed by MacKenzie in 1926, borrowing some elements of Raynor’s original routing with Hollins, but fundamentally changing the inland holes, incorporated 1927, course opens 1928, clubhouse opens 1930, a select group of no more than 250 members from the beginning (for many years far fewer than that) on one of the world’s great courses.
